It's similar to Black Friday in the USA, only several times larger, achieving $84.54 billion USD in gross merchandise volume in 2021. Alibaba was looking to raise awareness for this event in Japan, a market where many are unaware of the festival, despite its size.
By creating engaging and unique posts on social media including an "I Spy" giveaway game, a "line art" animation video, and influencer collaborations, we brought massive reach and audience growth for Alibaba during Double 11 2022.
